I remember several years ago, I had never heard of the MMA (Mixed Martial Arts), had no idea what it was.
Little did I know, an hour after my friend Jervis had invited me to a party, I’d be hanging with one of the most famous MMA champions ever, Chuck Liddell.
For that night, I was officially a part of the Chuck Liddell entourage. I was cracking up at how people I had never seen in my life kept coming up to me asking if they could get a photo with me, all because they had seen me hanging with Chuck Liddell and his crew. It was hilarious.
Now, because the MMA has become a very well known part of our culture, I think back to that time and another time I hung with the crew, with fond memories.
So, what does any of this have to do with skin care? Well, Jervis Cole, the friend who introduced me to this new world is in the MMA business.
Because he is an Influencer in the sports entertainment world, I wanted to ask him about the business and of course, his skin care regimen.
Jervis in his own words:
What do you do for a living?
I’m the Director of Sports Development at Stars Management.
What are your duties?
I’m in charge of building the sports division, recruiting professional athletes/MMA fighters, contract negotiations, and procuring endorsement deals.
For those who don’t know, what is MMA?
Mixed martial arts (MMA) is a full-contact combat sport that allows the use of both striking and grappling techniques, both standing and on the ground techniques that come from a variety of other combat sports and martial arts practices.
How do you stay in shape, active?
I run in the evenings, lift weights, and play basketball.
What are you favorite skin care products?
Olay Foaming Face Wash Sensitive, Olay Moisturizing Lotion for Sensitive Skin, Gillette Satin Care with a Touch of Olay Sensitive Shave Gel with Shea Butter.
Olay 4-in-1 Daily Face Wipes, Sensitive. I use this product on my neck and bald head only.
Skin care regimen?
I clean my face with Olay Foaming Face Wash Sensitive, then use Olay Moisturizing Lotion for Sensitive Skin in the mornings. I do the same with my neck and face using the Olay 4-in-1 Daily Face Wipes.
I shave my face and head every two days.
Do you have challenges with your skin, ever had them, what are they?
My skin is very sensitive, so I’m very careful with what I use on it. I try to stay away from alcohol or perfumes. For years I shaved with trimmers now I use Bic Sensitive Razors. I put very little pressure on the skin so I don’t shave too low, as that causes my skin to be irritated.
Do you go to the spa? Ever had a facial?
Never, my wife has asked me to go many times but I can’t bring myself to do it. But it is on my bucket list . . . LOL.
What stresses/de-stresses you?
I work in the very dirty world of sports. Daily, I run into stressful situations. I try to end my days by 6pm and free my mind of the daily grind by relaxing with the family or watching my favorite shows on TV.
What are you grateful for?
I’m grateful for my family and my God given ability to perform my job at a very high level.
What makes you comfortable in your own skin?
I learned to be confident from my mother and grandmother at a very young age. I was always told to walk into every room as if I owned it. That allowed me to become very comfortable in sports, life, and business.
